Annual General Meeting

Tuesday 1st April at 7.30pm

The Annual General Meeting of the Centre will be held on Tuesday the 1st of April at 7.00 for 7.30pm in the Garfield House Hotel, Stepps, Glasgow, coffee will be available on arrival.

With our newly extended membership we hope to see a good turn out, again this is your opportunity to air your views and let us know what events you would like to see the Centre organising. We have over the year expanded the events programme to introduce three shows this year, along with supporting events organised by other organisations which we think will be of interest to members.

We recognise that not all members are looking for the same thing, hence the reason to expand our activities, also this year we have been approached by a group of members who wish to enter a team for the California Cup at Silverstone, more news on this will follow.

If you feel you have the time and the enthusiasm to put something back into the Centre why not consider joining the committee, nomination forms can be obtained through the events page and click on April events.

Please take this opportunity to come along and support your Committee for the work they have put in during the year.

MARCH MUNCH REPORT

The Carvery Lunch held at Dunblane Hydro saw a good turn out of MGs on a sunny but cold day for our first get together of the new season. Willy & Penny Scott turned out in their newly aquired MGTF along with Jim & Loretta Henderson in their 1955 MGTF1500 on its first outing. It was also welcome to Mike & Catherine Howlett and Lorraine and Chris Hastie attending one of our events for the first time making the numbers up to 35.

This was a new venue for us and it proved a popular one, with a good selection on the carvery and a pianist playing in the background during the meal, although he could hardly be heard for the chatter. Following the meal we retired to one of the elegant lounges were we chatted away till late afternoon reminising and looking forward to this years runs hopefully with better weather than last year.

Dunblane was a good find, thanks to Jim Henderson who did the ground work for this one.

EARLY BIRD RUN

The first Run of the season which is being organised by Ian Goddard takes place on Sunday the 20th April leaving from the King Robert Hotel, Glasgow Road, Stirling, meeting at 9.30 for coffee with the first car leaving at 10.30.

The run will take us around the central area finishing at Baxter's (Kathellan) just off the A90 at Kelty. This being the first run of the season draws early entries from the die hard's desperate to get their MG's out of winter storage with 10 bookings so far, again see the Events Page for further details. April looks like being a busy month with all that is on offer to members, with both Centre run events and invitation events.

California Cup and BMC Trophy

A few members wish to enter two teams at Silverstone this year to try and bring the California Cup back to Scotland after an absence of several years. They need three to a team and are looking for another two to make up the numbers, and as many members as possible who wish to go along to cheer them on.

Further information will be made available later.

Norwegian Visitors

At the tail end of last year we received an email from Steinar Braaten Chairman of the Norwegian MG Car Club advising us that one of their Centre's were planning a tour of Scotland from the 25th April to 3rd May and asked if they could meet up with us.

They will be arriving in Newcastle on Friday 25th April with some 17 cars for an over night stay before heading north using the A696 and A68 on route to their touring base in Blair Atholl till the 2nd May.

Willy Scott has been liaising with Steiner and has arranged that we will meet them on Saturday 26th April in the car park at the Midlothian Snowsports Centre, Hillend, Biggar Road, near Edinburgh, we would expect them to arrive around 11-11.30am. Tom Bryce has done a route to take us and our visitors to South Queensferry to view the Bridges then on to the Falkirk Wheel for an afternoon lunch before they depart for Blair Atholl.

It would be a nice gesture to see a good turn out of Caledonian Members to show our visitors some Scottish hospitality.

See the Events Page for further details and to sign up.
